American History High School Scholars Program
“Working with historians who had different social and political backgrounds, as well as students from an array of places around the city helped me keep an open mind… I’ve learned a wealth of information from them.” – Eleni Broadwell, Spring 2015 American History High School Scholar
A new program supported by the Hertog Foundation
The New-York Historical Society offered the American History High School Scholars program to inspire young Americans to become informed and engaged citizens with a critical appreciation of the values, ideas, and history of our nation through direct engagement with renowned scholars. Twenty-three outstanding high school juniors received the opportunity to study with preeminent American historians and policy experts in a seminar setting from February 8 – April 12, 2015. Through those sessions, the participants gained the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to make sound choices about complex public problems.
