  • Reading Into History Book Club: The Giant and How He Humbugged America by Jim Murphy

    Square photo:
    Sun, September 7th, 2014 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Do you believe in giants? At this first book club meeting of the 2014-15 school year, we'll talk about one of the greatest hoaxes of the nineteenth century, the Cardiff Giant, and how the scam finally came to light. After book discussion, we'll head up to our Patricia D. Klingenstein library for a private viewing of rarely-seen artifacts related to P.T.Barnum, other humbug superstars, and some lesser-known nineteenth century hoaxes that will amaze, stupefy, and shock just like they did back then.
