EVENT DETAILS

Founded in 1941, the USO has played a vital role in boosting morale and patriotism by presenting live entertainment to U.S. armed forces and their families. In the spirit of the meaningful performances that touched countless lives during World War II, the National WWII Museum’s Victory Belles will present two exciting sets of song and dance (one at 12 pm and another at 3 pm) in the New-York Historical Society’s Robert H. and Clarice Smith New York Gallery of American History.

Shake Your Roots! with Alastair Moock

Sun, April 29th, 2012 | 2:00 pm

Singin’ and dancin’ — that’s what it’s all about! Alastair leads kids in sing-and-move-alongs of original and classic American tunes, including songs by Woody Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt, and Leadbelly. Students will be up on their feet, moving their bodies, finding their voices and engaging with the vibrant history of American folk and blues music. Alastair’s performances are appropriate for kids of all ages.
