Resources

The DiMenna Children's History Museum is a a great tool for teachers as well as an unique learning opportunity for students. These resources provide information for a museum visit, pre- and post-visit activities, reference and children’s books, and suggested lessons plans for a deeper look at specific people, eras and events that visitors will encounter in the Museum. Use this material to create small units of study around individual people combined with their related artifacts (primary sources) or focus on an artifact as an opening to a historic figure and time period.

The DiMenna Children's History Museum is rich with content that supports the New York State Learning Standards for Social Studies, the New York City Department of Education’s Social Studies Scope and Sequence for elementary and middle school, and is completely aligned with the Common Core State Standards for History and Literacy.
