Each class includes time with historic toys, a special Little New-Yorkers hello song, story readings, and a related craft project.
Little New-Yorkers in August and September
August 1: Madeline’s Tea Party by John Bemelmans Marciano
This week Pepito is back. While Madeline wants to have a tea party, Pepito has other ideas up his sleeve. Children will then make a tea set.
August 5 and 8: Maisy Goes to the Museum by Lucy Cousins
This week we are visiting the museum with Maisy the mouse and all her friends on a school trip. Find out what these curious animals get up to on this rainy day. Children will then make a Maisy Flip & Draw activity.
August 12 and 15: Museum Trip by Barbara Lehman
This school trip to the museum is quite the maze. This visit takes on a magical twist as a little boy get lost in his adventure. Children will then make a Medallion Maze booklet.
August 19 and 22: The Museum by Susan Verde
This magical visit to the museum turns children into little art critics teaching them how to look at art and think about how it makes them feel. Children will then make a Pop-Up Museum activity.
August 26 and 29: You Can’t Take a Balloon into the Metropolitan Museum by Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman
Ever wanted to take a balloon into a museum? On this adventure we find out just how much trouble one little balloon can cause. Children will then make a Museum Collage activity.
September 2 and 5: Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans
Starting with the classic tale that introduces us to the character, we will find out how brave Madeline really is. Even a trip to the hospital is fun! Children will then make a Madeline charm bracelet.
September 9 and 12: Madeline’s Rescue by Ludwig Bemelmans
This week we meet Madeline’s faithful dog Genevieve, and see just how heroic she really is. Children will then make a Genevieve bag.
September 16 and 19: Madeline in London by Ludwig Bemelmans
This week Madeline and her friends travel to London! Join them as they explore the city, traditions and even make a new friend. Children will then make a tea set.
September 26: Madeline Loves Animals by John Bemelmans Marciano
This week we’re learning a bit more about Madeline and meet a few of her animal friends, even the lion! Children will then make a Madeline charm bracelet.
September 30 and October 3: Once Upon a Banana by Jennifer Armstrong
This week in Little New-Yorkers we find out just how much trouble one little monkey (who really wants a banana) can make! Children will then make banana monkey wrap.
