Holiday Express: December School Vacation Week

All aboard the Holiday Express! Stop by the New-York Historical Society this vacation week to marvel at the toys and trains of the Jerni Collection and go on a special Holiday Express “I Spy” Scavenger Hunt. Kids and adults alike will delight in finding the treasures hidden amongst the mountains, tunnels, and bridges of the exhibition. Families can also enjoy a beloved train tale being read aloud and make a train-themed craft to take home as a souvenir from the day!

Holiday Express “I Spy” Scavenger Hunt
All day; Recommended for ages 4 and up
Can you spot a polar bear? How about the toy submarine? Who can find the model WWI cannon? Go on an “I Spy” adventure through the special exhibition Holiday Express and discover unexpected surprises tucked amongst all the toys and trains!

Train Tales and Crafts
Daily; 2 pm
Come hear a classic train storybook being read aloud and stay to do a related craft activity. Books include The Caboose Who Got Loose by Bill Peet, Two Little Trains written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Leo and Diane Dillon, and many more.

Climb aboard a toy train as it goes on an epic journey through book tunnels, around fish bowls, under chairs, and over pillow mountains.

Our first train book of the new year will be the story of a very busy steam engine that works from dawn till dusk to deliver all his freight.
