Living History: Evacuation Day
Sunday, November 20th, 2016 | 11:00 am

Free with Museum Admission
Recommended for all ages

Every weekend through January 8, meet fascinating living historians and reenactors who bring the American Revolution to life inside the Museum, presented in conjunction with our groundbreaking exhibition, The Battle of Brooklyn.

On Sunday, November 20, fast forward from the Battle of Brooklyn and fall of New-York to Evacuation Day, November 25, 1783, when the city fell back into American hands, with reenactors Michael and Maria Grillo. Map out the British Army’s departure route from the city with George Washington and examine the bundle of possessions carried by a British loyalist leaving for Canada and England. You can even listen to the commander-in-chief read his proclamations about this holiday celebrated in the past!

Before you finish commemorating Evacuation Day, pick up our Battle of Brooklyn Family Activity Guide and write George Washington a postcard to share your thoughts about his role in the Battle of Brooklyn.
