Living History: A Spy in Revolutionary New York
Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 | 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free with Museum Admission
All Ages

Every weekend through January 8, meet fascinating living historians and reenactors who will bring the American Revolution to life inside the Museum, presented in conjunction with our groundbreaking exhibition, The Battle of Brooklyn.

Merchant, solider, spy—one man played all these parts during America's fight for independence. Come meet Robert Townsend, as portrayed by living historian Michael Goudket, and learn about his time in the Continental Army and British-occupied New-York (it was hyphenated back then!), as well his part in the Cupler Spy Ring. Take a close look at some secret spy letters written with 1770s invisible ink as well as his merchant equipment. Then enjoy some music played on common Revolution-era instruments like the recorder or violin before you visit our exhibition, The Battle of Brooklyn.
