It's Summer of Hamilton at the New-York Historical Society and the DiMenna Children's History Museum! Celebrate the life and remarkable achievements of the man who played a leading role in the founding of the United States.

Saturdays and Sundays, 11 am – 4 pm

Travel into the past to meet the real inhabitants of the world of Alexander Hamilton! Each weekend in July and August, different Living Historians dressed as soldiers or civilians from up to 250 years ago will be stationed throughout the New-York Historical Society ready to answer your questions and share their stories about life in Hamilton’s time.

Saturday, August 27
African Heritage in the American War of Independence
How did individuals of African descent come to fight for the American colonies? Meet and ask the 1st Rhode Island Regiment of Foot, historical reenactors portraying the Continental Army's historic “Black Regiment” that was formed in part by African or First Nation slaves. Take a close look at their uniforms and equipment and learn how their lives were affected by military service.

Sunday, August 28
Meet Alexander Hamilton!
Stop by on the final day of Living History Summer to meet our nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury! Portrayed by nationally acclaimed living historian Ian Rose, Alexander Hamilton will meet and greet families on the ground and lower levels of the Museum.
