Event Details

On July 11, 1804, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr met at Weehawken, New Jersey, for what would become the most famous duel in American history. Embroiled in a bitter rivalry for years, Hamilton and Burr were two of the most prominent and promising Americans in the young nation, and their deadly encounter effected a movement to outlaw the practice. On the eve of the duel’s 212th anniversary, watch as actors read the escalating letters the two men fired off to each other in the weeks leading up to their fateful meeting, followed by a recreation of the notorious duel itself. Then find out about the fallout from the duel recited from documents that described the event.
