In conjunction with our museum-wide Citizenship Project, Sunday Story Time is featuring stories about immigration throughout the month of May. This week we are reading When Jessie Came Across the Sea.

Jessie leaves her grandmother, her village, and everything she knows to travel to New York City to become a dressmaker.  Living on the Lower East Side, Jessie learns how to fend for herself and make a new life.

When Jessie Came Across the Sea written by Amy Hest, illustrated by P.J. Lynch, 1997.
