Description: 
Mahogany Federal armchair; square back with slightly taller rectangular panel with footed urn formed by three ribs with inlaid stringing; swag across urn and inlaid fleur-de-lis on top; stringing along stiles, arms, legs, outswept rear legs, and front legs ending in spade feet; rounded trapezoidal seat with over-the-rail horsehair upholstery.
Gallery Label: 
The design of this chair, based on plate 36 from the 1794 edition of Thomas Sheraton's "Drawing Book," was very popular in New York. This chair has its original foundation upholstery.
