Description: 
Oak Renaissance Revival armchair made of relic wood from Washington's New York City residence; open back with arched crest rail with molded cornice surmounted with carved cartouche with "2 VP" in gothic script, pierced splat with central circular panel, and a tri-lobed lower back rail; open arms with upholstered arms with curved supports; upholstered spring seat with serpentine front rail; turned front legs raked rear legs.

This chair, one of a pair made of relic wood from Washington's New York City residence, was presented to the N-YHS in 1864 for the use of the Vice-Presidents of the Society.
