Description 
Ovoid cardboard bandbox and lid covered in light blue paper printed with scenes from lower Manhattan in the background, such as the spire of Trinity Church, the harbor, and City Hall, with elaborate cut-out arches and blue flowers in the foreground, in brown, gray, and blue; edge of lid covered in paper printed with leaf motifs and circles, in brown, green, pink, and yellow on white ground; lap joints secured with stitching and covered with textile strip, pasted on; twine handle at side, threaded through holes.

Gallery Label 
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
