Box with hinged lid decorated with inlaid mother-of-pearl floral design, and mother-of-pearl escutcheon; interior of lid holds mirror, box divided into fitted compartments composed of wood, velvet, and ivory, with four glass bottles (3 colorless, 1 red).

One compartment contains a newspaper article from "The Brooklyn Times" dated July 31, 1885 about a newspaper article found in Vicksburg, Mississippi and dated July 1863, about life in Vicksburg before its capture by Union forces during the Civil War.
