Octagonal box with lid; one side of lid made of paperboard and decorated in watercolor with tulips, other flowers, and hearts, and an eight-pointed star in the center; lid at center conceals a compartment which has a painting of a saint (Catherine of Siena?) with a gold halo; the inside of the lid has a coat of arms; lid hinged to the opening with string, and metal catch rotates to allow the lid to open and shut; opposite side cushioned and embroidered in various colors of greens and browns in flamestitch on linen ground; box is filled with 8 square and 8 triangular compartments around the outer edge which open from the top, decorated with watercolor tulip and star designs, and 1 row of drawers which pull out towards the center by silk ribbon tabs.
