Support the New-York Historical Society
Help us present groundbreaking exhibitions and develop educational programs about our nation's history for more than 200,000 schoolchildren annually.
This bust was created as a preparatory sketch for the life-size statue of Abraham Lincoln installed on the Central Park West steps of the New-York Historical Society in November, 2011. The bronze statue was commissioned by the New-York Historical Society and executed by the Brooklyn firm StudioEIS. A companion statue of Frederick Douglass was created for the 77th Street entrance; together, the two figures bring to life the story of freedom that is deeply embedded in our history and is a primary focus of the Historical Society's programs.
Due to ongoing research, information about this object is subject to change.
