Richard Milhous Nixon (1913-1994) became the 37th President of the United States in 1969 and was relected in 1972. Richard Nixon resigned his Presidency due to the Watergate scandal, in which he allowed the break-in and electronic bugging of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate apartment and office building complex.
