This button was sponsored by New York City Labor Against the War (NYCLAW), an organization formed shortly after September 11, 2001 by union members, to create a citywide anti-war coalition. It was obtained and worn at a demonstration in NYC, protesting against U.S. and allied forces' invasion of Iraq. It espouses the popular belief that purpose of the war was to exploit and profit from Iraqi oil reserves. The war officially began on Wednesday, March 19, and ended on Thursday, May 1, 2003.
