New York and Brooklyn Bridge celebration cane, given out on opening day.
During the late 1800s, canes were often handed out as souvenirs at large events, similar to fairs and political rallies. The Brooklyn Bridge, which connected the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, was a major engineering feat. This cane was given out on the Bridge's opening day.
