Copper obverse electrotype shell showing the uniformed bust of Isaac Hull facing left and surrounded by legend: "PERITOS ARTE SUPERIT JUL. MDCCCXII AUG. CERTAMINE FORTES/ISAACUS HULL [below bust center]." The reverse side of the shell bears a pin soldered at center.
This appears to be a copper electrotype shell of the obverse die of the medal struck in 1816 by the U.S. Mint and presented as a military award to War of 1812 hero Isaac Hull.
Due to ongoing research, information about this object is subject to change.
