Aluminum struck medal with nude bust of Washington facing right within two concentric circles, the inner beaded and the outer consisting of 38 stars; surrounding legend: "CENTENNIAL INAUGURAL CELEBRATION, NEW YORK/APRIL 30 1889." Reverse depicts Federal Hall at center with inscription in exergue: "FEDERAL HALL/WALL ST./N.Y."; legend: "WHERE HE WAS INAUGURATED FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE U.S./APRIL 30, 1789."
