White cotton-twill single-breasted Navy officer's coat; 1 3/4" closed stand-up collar (2 sets hooks and eyes); lieutenant's shoulder boards, with 2 gilt stripes, outer is approx. 5/8", inner is approx 3/8", gold 5-pointed starat the center, buttons at the collar end; closed sleeves, no cuffs; 5 buttons down the front, breast pockets with flaps which button closed; side seams split at the bottom, right side split 5 1/2" closing with 1 white plastic button, left side split 10 1/2" closing with 3 white plastic buttons, remaining buttons metal, cast with an eagle clutching an anchor above 3 cannon balls, surrounded by stars; back in 4 panels; coat unlined.
