The "General" is one of the most famous locomotives. Captured by the Andrews raiders on April 12, 1862, it was retaken by the Confederates after a thrilling chase. It was built by Thomas Rogers in 1855. The Western and Atlantic Railroad is now part of the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St.Louis line.
