Description 
Lady doll with papier-mâché shoulder head, black molded hair, and molded and painted facial features; stuffed kid body with divided arm composed of stuffed kid upper arm and painted wood lower arm and divided leg composed of stuffed kid upper leg and painted wood lower leg (blue paper bands conceal joints); knee-length white (discolored) net dress with pink cotton lining and lace trim, with petticoat, lace-trimmed pantalettes, and black painted slippers.

This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
