Description 
Brisé fan with pierced wooden guards and sticks with serrated tips; three applied paper medallions with engravings of Marie Antoinette, an allegory of French patriotism, and the Marquis de Lafayette; sticks joined by multicolored ribbon.

Gallery Label 
According to the accession records, this fan was carried by "a Miss Bogert" at the reception and ball in honor of General Lafayette held at Castle Garden on September 14, 1824. Eloise Lawrence Breese, in whose name this fan was given, was Miss Bogert's great niece.
