Fragment of flag from Monmouth; revolutionary,in envelope
Fragment (flag fragment): 1 x 1 1/2 in. (2.5 x 3.8 cm)

Gift of Elizabeth Stevens
According to the donor, this fragment was taken from a flag that was flying at Monmouth Courthouse in New Jersey during the Revolutionary War. The flag was supposedly one of the battle flags used by the Continental Army during the battle at the courthouse in 1780.
