Description 
Light blue wool greatcoat with closed double collar and shoulder cape; 2 buttons at the collar, 5 buttons down the front of the cape, and 7 buttons down the front of the coat; closed sleeves with chevron-shaped false cuffs, 1 button at each wrist; cape buttons to the bodice on reverse at the bottom center, 2 buttons near the center of the waistline, split skirt with a vertical slit pocket on the left side, 2 buttons on each pocket flap; all buttons cast with "EXCELSIOR / N.Y.S.A. / NATIONAL GUARD" surrounding an eagle with a shield in its beak flying above a banner; horizontal slit watch pocket at the waistline; coat lined with red twill-weave wool, sleeves lined with white cotton, tail pockets lined with white twill-weave cotton.
