Reverse depicts hand holding paper bearing inscription, partly obscured by fingers: "AMERICAN SYSTEM,/SOUTH...IONS/COMPROMISES," against rock labelled: "CONSTITUTION"; legend above: "THE ELOQUENT DEFENDER OF NATIONAL RIGHTS/AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE."
