Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of Henry Clay facing left with legend: "HENRY CLAY./BORN APRIL 12.1777. DIED JUNE 29.1852. [on scroll at lower center]." Reverse depicts hand holding paper bearing inscription, partly obscured by fingers: "AMERICAN SYSTEM,/SOUTH...IONS/COMPROMISES," against rock labelled: "CONSTITUTION"; legend above: "THE ELOQUENT DEFENDER OF NATIONAL RIGHTS/AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE."
