Bronze struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of James Hazen Hyde facing right with legend above: ". JAMES . HAZEN . HYDE ."; date below bust: " . 1 9 4 8 ."; inscription at left of image: "JUNE 6/1876." Reverse depicts four female heads in ethnic headdresses, representing Europe, Asia, Africa, and America; all within beaded border.
