Reverse contains inscription enclosed by crossed laurel and oak branches: "GOVERNOR/OF/PENNSYLVANIA/1855 TO 1858./DIRECTOR/OF U.S. MINT 1861./RESIGNED 1866./REAPPOINTED/1869."
