Description 
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing draped shoulder-length portrait of Lind facing left with legend: "JENNY LIND." Reverse depicts group of four classically draped female figures around pedestal, one of them writing onto it: "3 DEC. 1847/D. 12 APRIL.1848."; in exergue: "MINNESGARD/AF TONKONSTENS VANNER/I STOCKHOLM"; all surrounded by border made up of lyres interspersed with laurel wreaths containing titles of Lind's operatic parts, tied with ribbons.

Jenny Lind (1820-1887), a renown Swedish opera singer known throughout Europe as "The Swedish Nightingale," was invited by P. T. Barnum to tour America in 1850. Her yearlong tour turned out to be a great success with American public, both common and distinguished alike.
