Description: 
Brass ship lantern with domed hinged lid with loop handle, wire cage around glass shade, and domed circular base; lid has simple lock.
Gallery Label: 
According to donor, this lantern is from the steamer the "Saratoga" (1877-1919). It is a presentation piece of a type usually presented to ship's officers when they were retiring or being transferred.
