Porcelain figure of man holding baby, with diaper bag over shoulder and sweater tied around his waist; irregular circular base with gilded edge.
This figure is from a series created by Brooklyn-based ceramic artist Ann Agee, drawn from her observation of men and women in the streets, subways and airports of New York. Her subjects are ordinary people involved in the activities of daily life, but the form and decoration of her figures are inspired by 18th-century European prototypes, such as those produced at the Meissen factory in Germany.
