The subject was the daughter of George Carrell and Catherine (Key) Jenkins and the granddaughter of Thomas Courtney Jenkins, all of Baltimore. She was the first wife of Ral Parr, a prominent Baltimore sportsman and insurance executive, whom she married in 1899.
