Braided hair mourning bracelet with gold clasp; oval medallion at clasp is clear glass locket (empty) lined with purple textile or paper; silver "M" set with diamond chips on cover of glass locket; gold frame and clasp decorated with chased, braided, and engraved motifs; inscription on reverse of push-button metal clasp; fitted black leather case lined with pale green velvet (hinge broken); retailer's name stamped at underside of case lid.
Mary Elizabeth Babcock (1808-1851), who married William Lewis Morris (1805-1864); to their son John Babcock Morris (b.1839), who married Mary E. Faitoute; to their son John Babcock Morris Jr. (1881-1957), the donor.
