Wood, iron, and brass flintlock musket; brass furniture; bayonet lug filed down to bladed front sight; rectangular cock tang with two screw ends behind cock; stamped marks at center and tail of lockplate and on escutcheon plate; engraved mark and stamped proofs at breech end of barrel.
stamped: center lockplate: "GR" (below crown, royal cypher of George III); also a crown above an arrow (gov't ownership mark); tail: "TOWER" (stored in Tower of London armory)
stamped: escutcheon plate: "A/79" (probably Company A, rack number 79)
engraved: breech of barrel: "48 REGT" (48th British Regiment)
stamped: breech of barrel: "GR" (crown above mark and arrow below it); also a crown above two crossed scepters. These are both Royal Armory barrel proofs.
