Steel chain necklace worn by Edwin Booth for his portrait as "Hamlet" painted 1880-1882 by Oliver I. Lay.
Gallery Label: 
The Historical Society also owns the portrait for which this sash was worn by Mr. Booth (cp 1953.68). The portrait painter, Oliver I. Lay, was the father of the donor.
