Molded yellowware mug in shape of a man's head, with high collar and tricorn hat, all but face and interior coated in a mottled brown (Rockingham) glaze.

The man supposedly represents the Irish patriot, Daniel O'Connell (d. 1847). The mold came originally from the Doulton Works, London, about 1848. (See Barber, Pottery and Porcelain of the US, pp. 176-177)
