Blue transfer printed pearlware plate depicting a river scene and steamboat; the boat has "UNION/LINE" on the side and flies a Union Line flag; the border depicts shells and leaves and has an irregular center.

typed: paper label on back: " The Union Line, formed in 1820 to operate between New York and Philadelphia. It was the most popular of all lines in service between the two cities. In 1832, the Union which had control of all other lines, and became associated with the Rail Company."
