Description: 
Brass inkwell with knife; cone-shaped.
Gallery Label: 
This inkwell was found in 1921 during a subway excavation at Broad and Front Streets in lower Manhattan. It was probably part of garbage used to fill the area sometime between 1770 and 1820.
