Keteltas, a noted Revolutionary War preacher, was born in New York, the son of Abraham Keteltas, a merchant who came from Holland in 1720. Keteltas preached at various parishes in Long Island and Connecticut and his advice was highly regarded by, among others, George Washington, who frequently consulted him. He was a member of the third and fourth Provincial Congresses from Queens, and a member of the Convention of 1777 which framed the New York State constitution. N-YHS has many of his papers.
