Description: 
Olive drab wool service cap with brown leather visor and chin strap; button securing chin strap embossed with shield-breasted eagle surmounted by banner and starburst; front insignia missing.
Gallery Label: 
According to the accession records, this cap belonged to Col. John B. Walker of the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Col. Walker served as commanding officer, Base Hospital No. 116, A.E.F., during World War I, and as a consultant during demobilizatoin. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in 1922. Other parts of his uniform are also in the N-YHS Collection.
