Shako with rigid, cylindrical, black felt-covered crown which is angled forward, flat black patent leather top, and patent leather visor which is thick and somewhat rectangular; circular gilded metal insignia with border of alternating spears and cannon, and initials "LC" in applied white metal on black-enameled disk at center; black patent leather chin strap secured at either side by a large gilded metal button embossed with crossed rifles, white pompon.
