Aluminum struck medal with obverse showing American eagle holding laurel branches with oval medallion inscribed: "OMNIA RELINQUIT SERVARE REMPUBLICAM"; legend: "SOCIETAS . CINCINNATORUM . INSTITUTA . /A.D. MDCCLXXXIII." Reverse shows detailed image of the Washington Monument in Philadelphia with inscription below: ".IN.COMMEMORATION.OF.THE.UNVEILING.OF.THE./.WASHINGTON.MONUMENT./.AT PHILADELPHIA./.MAY.15th 1897." Medal inset into square cardboard mount covered in pale green and cream silk satin with matching grosgrain ribbons attached at top right.
