Description: 
Rectangular metal chest functioning as time capsule; chest has lift-off top with decorative finial, faux "rope" handles at sides, and four ornate paw feet. Placques on front and rear of chest.
Gallery Label: 
This time capsule was deposited at the New-York Historical Society in 1914 by the Lower Wall Street Business Men's Association, with the intention that it be opened in 1974, then sealed again until 2074. Never opened in 1974, the chest was unsealed at a ceremony held on October 8, 2014. A new time capsule, to be opened in 2114, was created and sealed at the same time. The contents placed in the chest in 1914 are available in the New-York Historical Society Library.
