Description
A cardboard sign with a black wood frame that advertises nails and tacks. Different size and gauge metal nails and tacks are stitched with cotton thread onto the black cardboard background to spell out "Tacks, Shoe Nails &c./ Manufactured by / Dunbar, Hobart & Whidden/ Abington, Mass./ Established 1810 by/ Benjamin Hobart". The tacks, now dark gray or black with age and oxidation, were once bright silver, presenting a clearer and more impressive sign than is evident by the current appearance. Formerly F-14.
