Description: 
Navy blue wool wide-leg trousers; one button at the waistband which fastens at the center, a pocket on each side, covered with panel which buttons horizontally 7 buttons across waistband; waist adjustable with lacing at the back center; waist and pockets lined with white cotton.

These trousers were worn by F. Maurice Newton, when he served in the U.S. Navy on the S.S. Prairie in 1898.
