This trowel was excavated by the Field Exploration Committee on Seaman Avenue at the British camp on the Dyckman farm, which extended between Seaman and Payson Avenues and 204th Street in Washington Heights. It was used by masons, or by British and Hessian soldiers to build huts and repair fortifications.
