Bronze struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of President Grant facing right, peace pipe and laurel branch below; surrounding legend: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/'LET US HAVE PEACE'/LIBERTY JUSTICE AND EQUALITY"; all within ornamental border. Reverse depicts world globe inscribed: "PACIFIC OCEAN", at left, and "ATLANTIC OCEAN", vertically, at right, surrounded by agricultural implements and surmounted by open book labelled: "HOLY BIBLE"; legend: "ON EARTH PEACE/1871./GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN"; thirty six stars around border. Circular dark red cardboard box bottom tray.
